Château de Chareil-Cintrat

Standing at the foot of a vine-covered hill, the castle presents an interior decoration marked by the second phase of the French Renaissance and made with grotesques unique in France by their size and their delicacy, completed by mythological and astrological scenes.

Built in the 16th century, the castle of Chareil presents a decoration marked by the second phase of the French Renaissance: sculpted decoration, murals inspired by antiquity with mythological and astrological scenes, and a collection of grotesques exceptional in France for their size and preservation. Outside the castle, the visit goes on freely in the ancient grape varieties conservatory from, regrouping the old grape varieties cultivated in the Saint-Pourçain vineyard.
